Technical Advice for Students Unions

Technical Training

We can provide specialist training in risk assessment for adventurous activities, technical activity training, outdoor first aid and equipment maintenance. As recommended by the Safe Adventures Report.

Implementing the Safe Adventures Report

The Safe Adventures Report published in March 2026 makes several recommendations for supporting organisations such as students unions and guilds. Stormy Sky can help by providing technical advice and supporting the creation and review of 'statements of competence' for activity leaders to ensure affiliated clubs are meeting recognised standards of practice.

Our process

Action Plan

We typically produce an action plan which will include what we will do for you, and any actions required from you in order to achieve our agreed objectives. This might involve safety advice and recommendations for practice that reflect sector norms. It might be the provision of training or sharing resources.

Regular Reviews

We identify key review points to gauge progress. This includes timely communication and on-site meetings where required. We conduct 'wash-up' meetings after project completion to ensure we continually improve and gather feedback.

Scoping

We start by ensuring we understand your context, this typically involves a document review and site visit as well as wider research. It's also important to ensure we clearly define your objectives - what are you trying to achieve through this process?

Talk to us about your requirements

Technical advice starts with a really good conversation about your needs. Kick that off by completing the form and we'll get right back to you.
